Alzheimer’s disease is a progressive neurological disorder that affects memory, thinking, and behaviour. What Is Alzheimer’s Disease? Alzheimer’s disease is a type of dementia (memory issues) that causes the death of brain cells, leading to a decline in cognitive and functional abilities. The exact cause is unknown, but it’s believed to be related to: 1. Genetics: Family history and certain genetic mutations can increase the risk. 2. Aging: Age is the greatest risk factor, with most cases occurring after 65. 3 Brain Changes: Accumulation of beta-amyloid plaques and tau tangles in the brain.
