In this video, I start a creative challenge from my ArtandSuccess PRO membership group called “Build and Destroy.” This year, we are doing a deep exploration of authenticity, and this exercise focuses on discovering our true artistic process. I begin by building a painting to an advanced stage, then intentionally destroying it before rebuilding it again. This approach helps reveal authentic mark-making and shape development. In Part 1, I work on a 36x36-inch Baltic Birch cradled panel using acrylic paint and a wide range of mark-making tools. Later in the series, I’ll transition to cold wax and oil, and explain why.
