An asset reconstruction company is a type of corporation that purchases bad debts and financial assets from a certain financial institution or bank. It is registered under Section 3 of the Securitization and Reconstruction of Financial Assets and Enforcement of Security Interest (SRFAESI) Act, 2002, and regulated by the Reserve Bank of India as a Non-Banking Financial Company under the RBI Act, 1934.
