One of the most crucial processes in the making of stainless steel is Argon oxygen decarburization (AOD). In this process, the metal is first melted and then subjected to further refinement. This is the refining & decarburization process mainly used to reduce the Carbon & sulphur from the molten metal. It is mainly used for stainless steels, duplex & super-duplex steels where the material is requied to have a very low carbon content.
