An Ostomy Care Plan Must Include Maintaining Hygiene and Changing the Pouch

Electrolyte imbalance can occur as a result of diarrhoea and vomiting. Electrolytes are salts and sugars that aid in the maintenance of blood chemistry. If a patient is dehydrated, they will require assistance with daily tasks. The patient should take precautions to prevent dehydration. A waterproof pad will also keep liquid from spilling on the bedsheets or the patient. If the patient is unable to complete these tasks on their own, they should attempt to remove the old pouching system and Ostomy Care. This will necessitate the use of adhesive remover, but if this is not possible, it is best to remove it.
