Amaravathi is an upcoming city in the south Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It was founded (announced) by former Chief minister of Andhra Pradesh N. Chandrababu Naidu in the year 2014, to be the executive and Greenfield Administrative Capital City and the de facto seat of government of the state, post the formation of the state of Telangana. The foundation stone for this city was laid by Mr. Narendra Modi (the Prime Minister of India) at a ceremonial event in the nearby village of Uddandarayunipalem on 22 October 2015.
