It is possible for a person with Alzheimer's disease to also experience symptoms of mental illness, such as depression or anxiety. These symptoms can be challenging to diagnose and treat, as they may be attributed to the progression of Alzheimer's. Studies have shown that certain mental illnesses, such as depression and bipolar disorder, may increase the risk of developing Alzheimer's disease.
