Orthokeratology, or ortho-K, is the procedure of reshaping the cornea with specific contact lenses. Ortho-K makes use of gas-permeable contact lenses that are worn at night rather than during the day. The lenses gently and gradually remodel the surface of the eye while the patient sleeps. When the patient wakes up and removes the contact lenses, he or she should be able to see properly without glasses or other contact lenses for the rest of the day.
