Air Curtains vs Smoke Barriers

Air curtains and traditional smoke barriers are both described as “barriers.” They both hang above or near doorways. Both are used in industrial and commercial buildings. Beyond that, they’re fundamentally different systems built for completely different purposes. Using an air curtain where a smoke barrier is required is a compliance failure. Using a rigid smoke barrier where an air door would have been more practical is an expensive and inflexible solution to a problem that didn’t require it.
