RoHS The RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) directive was adopted in February 2003 and took effect on July 1, 2006. It restricts the use of certain hazardous materials – such as mercury, lead, cadmium, and hexavalent chromium that may be found in electrical and electronic equipment. Malaysia has implemented the RoHS directive, which means that all electrical and electronic equipment sold in Malaysia must comply with it. This will ensure that exporters of electrical and electronic products do not trade in hazardous materials.
