At Bikramshila Study Center, the Abacus and Handwriting programme offers a dual focus on cognitive development and penmanship, catering to children who wish to sharpen both mental calculation and written expression skills. The Abacus segment is part of the centre’s larger “Abacus Brain Development” initiative, which uses the ancient abacus tool to train children in concentration, mental visualisation and speed in arithmetic. The course helps move from physical abacus use to “mental abacus” visualisation, thereby improving memory power, problem-solving ability and academic confidence. Complementing this is the Handwriting class component, which is listed under the centre’s “Hand Writing” offerings alongside Abacus and Vedic Math. This class aims to enhance legibility, speed, clarity of written expression and confidence in everyday writing tasks—an important skill especially in exam- and assignment-heavy environments.
