A Rare Case Affecting Maxillary Region!

The actual cause of the peripheral ossifying fibroma (POF) has been debated over many years. Frequent lesions characterize pOFs in the oral cavity. It amounts to about 3.1% of all oral tumors and 9.6% of gingival lesions. These lesions have fibrous stroma, with varying amounts of mineralized materials. POFs are frequent in younger populations. The typical POF appearance involves small gingival growth during initial stages, which might attain large sizes, causing facial disfigurement. Here is a case report of POF affecting the right maxillary region.
