Damage to the structure: Damage to the structure of the kidneys can include tissue inflammation, cyst formation, and scarring, all of which impair the organs' capacity to operate as intended. Reduced filtration rate: The glomerular filtration rate (GFR) can drop as a result of damage to the nephrons, the kidney's filtering units. This lowers the kidney's capacity to remove waste and extra fluid from the blood. Proteinuria:Proteinuria, or the leakage of protein into the urine, is a sign of renal disease and is caused by damage to the glomeruli. Hematuria: Hematuria, or the presence of blood in the urine, may indicate kidney damage brought on by an infection, inflammation, or damage to the kidney's blood arteries or filtering units.
